Description

American Traveler is seeking an outpatient Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist with CCC-SLP certification and an active Ohio SLP license for a position serving primarily pediatric patients with a mixed adult caseload.

Details

  • Outpatient clinic setting with approximately 90% pediatric and 5% adult outpatient caseload, plus 5% adult inpatient hospital coverage
  • Daily caseload of approximately 12–14 patients
  • Pediatric patients commonly present with autism, cerebral palsy, Down's syndrome, developmental delays, early intervention needs, and childhood apraxia of speech
  • Adult patients commonly present with CVA, dementia, acute encephalopathy, and pneumonia
  • Inpatient duties include basic bedside swallow evaluations for adult patients
  • Schedule is primarily four 10-hour days per week with Wednesdays off
  • Day shift

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Active, unrestricted Ohio SLP license in good standing (license required if applicable)
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA, or a conditional license under a supervised Professional Experience Plan approved by the Ohio Board
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a licensed SLP
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Experience with pediatric disorders including articulation, language delays, childhood apraxia of speech, and AAC
  • Experience with adult swallowing, language, and cognitive disorders
  • Proof of address and candidate SSN and DOB (MM/DD) required for consideration
  • 1 supervisory reference required for consideration
  • Copy of certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Evaluates and treats a primarily pediatric outpatient population, with additional care provided at a small adult inpatient hospital and for 2–3 adult outpatients
  • Develops individualized treatment plans based on patient age, diagnosis, functional status, and personal goals, incorporating patient and family input
  • Conducts standardized and non-standardized assessments and administers appropriate therapeutic techniques and interventions
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment teams and communicates effectively with patients, families, and caregivers throughout the care continuum
  • Provides patient and family education, discharge planning, and assistive equipment recommendations
  • Participates in process improvement, continuing education, and the clinical education program
  • Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) and VitalStim training are preferred
  • Experience with electronic medical records is preferred
  • A Pass/Fail EKG test is administered on the first day with two attempts allowed; a study guide will be provided
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
