Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Intermediate Care (IMC) position caring for ED boarding patients, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and at least one prior travel assignment.
Details
- Work setting is a hospital Intermediate Care Unit (IMC), caring for admitted patients boarding in the ED while awaiting inpatient bed placement
- Patients present with varying diagnoses and require intermediate-level monitoring and care
- Patient ratio of 1:4-5
- Schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Charting is done in Cerner (experience required)
- Medication system is Pyxis
Requirements
- Active DC RN license required; pending DC license accepted with proof of pending status provided at time of consideration, and license must be in hand prior to start date
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- At least 1 prior travel assignment required
- Must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum overall score of 80% and a score of 100% on the lethal rhythms section
- Required skills: Cerner, telemetry monitoring and interpretation, dysrhythmia management, IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration, feeding tube care and management, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure management, IV therapy and phlebotomy, IV insertion, heparin protocols, PCA, nasal cannula, and isolation precautions
- Preferred skills: cardiac telemetry, ER holding experience, and PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown experience
- Must be willing to care for COVID-19 patients
Additional Information
- Responsible for assuming care of admitted patients with varying diagnoses while they board in the ED awaiting placement on an inpatient unit
- Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are subject to a local rate — contact your recruiter for details
- Any color scrubs are acceptable
- 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required for consideration
- Any time-off or scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
