Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position on a 3N Renal Unit, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and the ability to float across multiple regional facilities.
Details
- Located in a 207-licensed-bed hospital with Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations; not a trauma or teaching facility
- Assignment to the 3N Medical Telemetry unit (31 beds), with home unit confirmed on the first day of orientation
- Patient population includes end stage renal disease, peritoneal dialysis (PD), fluid overload, sickle cell, diabetes mellitus (DM), altered mental status, cellulitis, diabetic ulcers, pancreatitis, and behavioral health conditions
- RN-to-patient ratio is 1:5–6, with critical surge ratios of 1:7–8; CNA ratio is 1:6–12
- Specialized skills include cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley catheters)
- Medication drip management required, including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF
- EMR: Epic; IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips
- 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, 36 hours per week
- Every-other-weekend rotation required
- No on-call or callback requirements
- Floating is required to all units within scope at the home facility, as well as to other facilities within the assigned region — candidates who are not willing to float to regional facilities should not apply
- Schedules are set on a 6-week cycle
Requirements
- Active RN license — NC or compact state license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation and general Med/Tele clinical skillset required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum of one professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Provide telemetry nursing care to a complex medical patient population with renal, cardiac, and behavioral health diagnoses
- Unit support includes CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, a charge nurse, phlebotomy, an IV/VAT team (11 AM–7 PM and 11 PM–7 AM), respiratory therapy (24/7), hospitalist (24/7), and intensivist coverage
- Orientation includes new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- RTO: Up to 6 days off may be approved, excluding holidays; any time off that impacts contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract
- Scrub color: Navy
- Parking is complimentary
- Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
- First-time travelers are not preferred but will be considered
