Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level 3 Trauma Center in Oklahoma, requiring a minimum of 2 years of hospital experience and active Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Night shift position working 3x12-hour shifts (18:30–07:00)
  • 13-week contract
  • Med/Surg Tele unit within an acute care hospital (171 staffed beds)
  • Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5, with potential for 1:6–7
  • Common diagnoses and procedures include altered mental status, CHF, stroke, orthopedic and surgical patients, DKA, and infections
  • Unit may also care for patients with mental health diagnoses
  • Charting via Epic (experience required, with Oklahoma-based Epic use preferred)
  • 3 weekend shifts required per 6-week period
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
  • Block scheduling and special scheduling requests are not accommodated
  • Hospital parking is free

Requirements

  • Active OK RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of hospital nursing experience required; candidates with 4+ years of experience must have prior travel experience
  • At least 2 successful prior travel assignments required with no performance or attendance issues
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required, preferably used in Oklahoma and within the past year
  • Self-rated cardiac competency of 3 or above required
  • Basic dysrhythmia training preferred (self-rated 3 or above)
  • No background hits allowed

Additional Information

  • Provides nursing care to a Med/Surg Tele patient population including cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition
  • Level 3 Trauma Center designation
  • Magnet or teaching hospital status not specified, but facility is an academic medical center (OSU-affiliated)
  • Scrub color varies by unit
  • RTO is capped at 5 days for the full 13-week assignment and must be pre-approved
  • No RTO is approved the day before, the day of, or the day after a holiday
  • No additional RTO requests will be considered after the time of submission or once on contract
  • Strict attendance policy: missed shifts are unexcused regardless of reason; 2 missed shifts result in a warning and 3 or more may result in cancellation
  • Candidates must complete all assigned compliance modules before their start date
  • First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
