Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Step Down Unit position at an acute care hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of bedside experience and proficiency with vents, vasopressors, and insulin drips.

Details

• Acute care hospital Step Down Unit (SDU) setting with 233 staffed beds
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
• Every other weekend requirement: Saturday and Sunday for day shift
• Floating required to lower-acuity floors as needed
• Block scheduling is not available
• Charting via Epic (experience required)
• No on-call responsibilities
• Free parking on-site

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or compact RN license required; IL candidates may apply with a pending IL license
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Must have been actively working at the bedside within the last 6 months
• Proficiency required with titration of vasopressors, sedation medications, and insulin drips
• Experience required with trach/vents, arterial lines, external pacemakers, and chest tubes
• Epic EMR experience required
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Navy scrubs required
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
• Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Travelers may work at this facility for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
