Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Telemetry (M/S Tele) position requiring an active MA RN license and the ability to read telemetry strips.
Details
- Work on Davenport 8, a 37-bed Medical Telemetry Unit within a hospital setting
- Primary patient diagnoses include CHF, atrial fibrillation, pulmonary embolism, and pneumonia, as well as patients with EtOH and dementia with cardiac co-morbidities
- Also cares for NSTEMI, post-pacemaker, and post-cardiac cath lab patients, with occasional surgical patients
- Patients frequently require cardiac drips including Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Lasix, and Heparin
- RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4 (max 1:5) on day and evening shifts, and 1:5–6 on nights; day shift weekdays include a Charge RN without a patient assignment
- Day shift rotators may be assigned to 7a–7p, 11a–11p, or 7p–7a as needed; rotation frequency is generally low
- Every other weekend (EOW) required
- Floating to applicable units required as needed
- Charting is done in Epic
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required; conditional or pending licenses are not accepted
- Current AHA BLS certification required (AHA only; Red Cross not accepted at this location)
- Current AHA ACLS certification required (AHA only; Red Cross not accepted at this location)
- Telemetry certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips required
- Knowledge of cardiac drips required
- Experience with post-cardiac catheterization and pacemaker patient care preferred
- 2 professional references required for consideration
- Flu vaccine required; no religious or medical exemptions are accepted
- Active MA RN license must be in hand at the time of consideration — no pending licenses accepted
Additional Information
- 13-week contract, 36 hours per week

- Timekeeping is managed through UKG/Kronos
- Local candidates residing within 60 miles of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston are eligible to apply
- Any requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at the time of consideration
