Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med Specialty Step Down Unit position requiring at least one year of Med/Surg Step Down experience, with night shift availability and an active OK or compact RN license.

Details

• Position is in a hospital Med Specialty Step Down Unit
• Cares for a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex
• 12-hour night shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
• Med/Surg Step Down (MS/SD) experience is required; ICU experience is preferred
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required; all certifications must be AHA-issued
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
• Med/Surg Step Down experience required
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
• Full Date of Birth (DOB) required for consideration
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include assuming care for an assigned patient group, documenting patient responses to nursing interventions, administering medications, initiating and monitoring IV infusions and blood products, assisting physicians with exams and minor diagnostic procedures, and coordinating discharge planning with patients and families
• Delegates tasks to support staff as appropriate
• Compliance requirements (drug screens, background checks, medical requirements) must be initiated immediately upon offer acceptance — this facility is strict about compliance deadlines and will not negotiate start dates
• Candidates who have previously worked at this facility are limited to one extension for a total of 26 weeks; a 6-month separation period is required before being eligible for another contract
