Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU (Progressive Care Unit) position requiring Epic experience, charge nurse capability, and a Louisiana or Compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a hospital setting
• Patient diagnoses include migraines, seizures, chest pain, spinal abscesses, MS, upper respiratory infections, and more
• Specialized procedures include post-spinal surgery and post-stroke care
• Average daily census of 29 patients
• Patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
• Every other weekend required (4 weekends per 13-week contract)
• Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned
• EMR: Epic (experience required)

Requirements

• Active Louisiana or Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA)
• Preferred certifications: ACLS (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must be able and willing to act as charge nurse when assigned
• Must reside 65+ miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply, though charge nurse roles are reserved for experienced travelers
• By accepting an assignment, candidates agree to participate in the facility's Emergency Team if an emergency event occurs, which may require staying on-site or serving on a relief team — candidates uncomfortable with this expectation should not apply
• A charge nurse differential of $2/hr applies when acting in a charge capacity
• All certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
• RTO requests must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
• 13-week contract
