Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU (Progressive Care Unit) position requiring Epic experience, charge nurse capability, and a Louisiana or Compact RN license.
Details
- Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a hospital setting
- Patient diagnoses include migraines, seizures, chest pain, spinal abscesses, MS, upper respiratory infections, and more
- Specialized procedures include post-spinal surgery and post-stroke care
- Average daily census of 29 patients
- Patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
- Every other weekend required (4 weekends per 13-week contract)
- Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
Requirements
- Active Louisiana or Compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA)
- Preferred certifications: ACLS (AHA)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must be able and willing to act as charge nurse when assigned
- Must reside 65+ miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply, though charge nurse roles are reserved for experienced travelers
- By accepting an assignment, candidates agree to participate in the facility's Emergency Team if an emergency event occurs, which may require staying on-site or serving on a relief team — candidates uncomfortable with this expectation should not apply
- A charge nurse differential of $2/hr applies when acting in a charge capacity
- All certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- RTO requests must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
- 13-week contract
