Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical night shift position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital in Charleston, SC, with a 1:4–1:5 patient ratio and weekend requirements.

Details

  • 18-bed Medical-Surgical unit in a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital with 820 staffed beds
  • Family Medicine unit serving patients 18 years and older, primarily chronic illness and general medical cases with a smaller surgical patient population
  • Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
  • Patient ratio of 1:4–1:5
  • 4 weekend shifts required per month
  • Holiday rotation required
  • Floating within scope to similar units required based on facility needs
  • Charting via Epic
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active SC RN license or compact/multi-state RN license required; SC license must be active prior to start date (candidates with a pending SC license may be considered)
  • Current BLS certification required (AHA-issued only)
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
  • 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates who have previously worked as permanent staff or PRN at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
  • Online modules must be completed prior to the start date
  • Local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) are considered on a case-by-case basis; non-local candidates are prioritized
  • Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are considered local
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration; approval is based on facility needs
  • Block scheduling may be requested but is subject to manager and unit approval
  • Scrub color requirement: solid royal blue or white top with royal blue bottoms
  • During hurricane season (June–November), all staff and contractors may be assigned to emergency response duties; peak activity months are August and September
