Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity Cardiac ICU position at a heart transplant center in New Orleans, LA, requiring Epic proficiency and specialized cardiac critical care experience.

Details

• High-acuity cardiac ICU setting within a heart transplant center
• Cardiology critical care patient population including cardiogenic shock, decompensated heart failure, STEMI/NSTEMI, post cardiac arrest, TAVR, pulmonary hypertension, and pulmonary embolism
• Specialized procedures include pericardial drains/windows, targeted temperature management, and pacemaker placement
• Equipment used includes PA catheters, IABP, Impella, transvenous pacemakers, CRRT, EKOS catheters, and CADD pumps for Remodulin infusion
• 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15), with the occasional opportunity to pick up a 4th shift
• Epic EMR experience is required
• Floating required to other ICUs and SDUs
• No block scheduling requests

Requirements

• Active LA or Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Cardiac ICU or cardiology critical care experience required
• Experience with specialized cardiac equipment (PA catheters, IABP, Impella, CRRT, etc.) strongly preferred
• Epic EMR proficiency required
• Candidates must reside 65+ miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• First-time travelers may be considered depending on experience level
• Upon accepting an assignment, the unit manager may designate nurses to an Emergency Team, which may require remaining at the facility until an emergency event has passed or serving on a relief team
• RTO requests must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
• All certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Local candidates are not accepted; must live 65+ miles from the facility
