Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity Cardiac ICU position at a heart transplant center, requiring ACLS and Epic experience with night shift availability.
Details
- High-acuity cardiac ICU within a heart transplant center focused on cardiology critical care
- Patient diagnoses include cardiogenic shock, decompensated heart failure, STEMI/NSTEMI, post cardiac arrest, TAVR, pulmonary hypertension, and pulmonary embolism
- Specialized procedures include pericardial drains/windows, targeted temperature management, and pacemaker placement
- Special equipment includes PA catheters, IABP, Impella, transvenous pacemakers, CRRT, EKOS catheters, and CADD pumps for Remodulin infusion
- Patient ratio is 1:2
- Floating is required to other ICUs and SDUs
- Epic EMR experience is required
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15), with the occasional opportunity to pick up a 4th shift
- Block scheduling requests are not accommodated
Requirements
- Active Louisiana or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Experience with high-acuity cardiac critical care patients and the specialized procedures and equipment used in this unit
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must reside 65+ miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- First-time travelers may be considered depending on experience level
- All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
- Upon accepting an assignment, the unit manager may assign you to an Emergency Team, which may require staying at the facility through an emergency event or serving on a relief team — candidates uncomfortable with this expectation should not apply
