Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity Surgery Trauma unit at a Level 1 trauma center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of specialty experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Located on a high-acuity Surgery/Trauma floor (Unit 6B) within an inner-city Level 1 trauma center
- Patient population includes spinal, neuro, trauma, and surgical cases, including gunshot wounds, quadriplegics, and paraplegics
- 12-hour night shifts, 3 shifts per week
- Patient ratio of 5:1
- Unit support includes nursing techs, phlebotomists, and a unit secretary during night shift
- ED nurses complete a formal nurse handoff upon patient admission to the unit
- Block scheduling is not available — candidates must be flexible with assigned shifts
- Travelers are expected to work 4 weekend shifts per month
- Epic EMR is used and experience is required
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active RN license — GA license or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg or Surgery/Trauma specialty experience required
- Experience in high-acuity, high-volume trauma environments required — candidates with experience limited to small or low-volume hospitals will not be considered
- Proven ability to manage critical, fast-paced situations with complex and diverse patient cases
- Proficiency in Epic EMR required

- This facility is a high-acuity, inner-city Level 1 trauma center handling complex, high-volume trauma cases
- No RTO (time off requests) will be approved during the contract
- Local candidates are accepted for this position
