Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg position on a 60-bed inpatient medical unit in St. Louis, MO, requiring at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience and an active MO or compact RN license.

Details

• 7 West Medical unit in an inpatient hospital setting with 60 beds
• Medical patient population, including patients with post-trauma, surgical interventions, and medical comorbidities
• Patient ratio of 1:5 or 1:6
• Equipment used includes bladder scanners, vein finders, IV pumps, and wound vacs
• EMR: Epic
• Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license in Missouri or compact license meeting Missouri eligibility requirements
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• ACLS from AHA preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient Med/Surg experience
• No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months
• Valid U.S. Social Security Number required (Canadian SINs not accepted)

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include direct patient care for all age groups, encompassing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient and comfort
• Physical demands include standing and walking most of the shift, significant bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance; ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs and pinch up to 15 lbs required
• High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids
• Black scrubs required
• Flu vaccination (or a Mercy-approved exemption) is required for assignments between November 1 and April 1; declinations are not accepted
• Up to 5 days of RTO is permitted but must be made up during the assignment; only 1 holiday RTO request is allowed per assignment
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate
• Local candidates within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before a separation or reassignment outside the radius is required
• The facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level 1 STEMI Center
