Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU Float (Resource Team) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and Level 1 trauma background in a large acute care hospital setting.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting with 32-bed ICU unit
  • ICU Resource Team role floating across all critical care departments, including the primary ICU (5CD), Intermediate ICU (ratios up to 4:1), and Broadway ICU (ratios up to 3:1)
  • May also float to med-surg units as needed for tasking or patient assignments up to 3:1
  • Patient population includes critically ill neuro, cardiac, CT surgery, trauma, medical, and surgical patients
  • Standard nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2 in the primary ICU
  • 12-hour shifts with a day/night rotating schedule; nights-only candidates will be considered
  • Every other weekend required
  • Every other holiday required
  • No on-call required
  • Candidates must call in each day prior to their shift to confirm unit assignment
  • Epic EMR used; experience required
  • Equipment used includes Omnicell Automated Dispensing Cabinet, Aleris IV pumps, MOOG Feeding pumps, IABP, EVD, Phillips Patient Monitoring Systems, AvaSure Patient Monitoring, and Impella

Requirements

  • Active ND or Compact RN license required
  • Current AHA BLS and AHA ACLS certifications required
  • Current NIHSS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience required
  • Experience in a large hospital (250+ beds) with Level 1 or Level 2 trauma designation required
  • Demonstrated experience titrating vasopressor drips required (must be reflected on resume or skills checklist)
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • 2 current professional references required: 1 supervisor reference from within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from the position's specialty within the last 3 years
  • All certifications must be active and in hand — no pending certifications accepted
  • Active RN license must be in hand at the time of consideration

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include independent management of 1–3 critically ill patients across varying critical care populations
  • Ability to manage vasopressors, sedatives, analgesics, inotropics, antiarrhythmics, and other titratable drips required
  • Must be able to assist with bedside procedures including RSI, EVD placement, tracheostomy, and line placement
  • Orientation totals 32 hours during the first week: 8 hours of hospital orientation, 8 hours on the primary ICU unit (5CD), 4 hours on the Intermediate ICU, and 12 hours on Broadway ICU
  • Candidates must not have worked for Sanford Health within the 6 months prior to their application date
  • Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
  • Candidates residing between 60 and 80 miles of the facility may be eligible but at a reduced travel pay rate
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Badging in and out at the facility is required
