Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU/IMCU) position at a tertiary care hospital in Rochester, NY, requiring an active NY RN license and Epic experience.

Details

• Work in a 26-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), a critical care step-down unit within a 528-bed tertiary care hospital
• Patients are received from the Emergency Department, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, ICU, and medical-surgical floors
• Adult acute care patient population requiring more specialized care than a general med-surg unit
• All patients have continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring
• Cares for patients requiring airway management, acute BiPAP support, arterial lines, central lines, and titrated IV medication infusions
• Patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7 (MedSurg acuity)
• 4x12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating is required
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active NY RN license currently in hand — no exceptions
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with rapid response and code team protocols
• IV therapy and peripheral line care/management skills
• Respiratory support experience including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, and non-invasive airway management
• Knowledge of isolation precautions
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained

• Unit operates with a multi-disciplinary team approach emphasizing evidence-based, compassionate care
• Scrub color requirement: any combination of navy and white
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates
