American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity Emergency Department position at a Level III trauma center, requiring a minimum of 3 years of large-volume ED experience and a robust certification package including TNCC and PALS or ENPC.

Details

  • Fast-paced Emergency Department within a 226-bed Level III non-profit community hospital
  • 34-bed ED organized into zones, including a 13-bed fast track 'green zone'
  • Sees 200–250 ED patients per day, the busiest ED in the state
  • Patient population spans neonate to geriatric, including pediatric medical and trauma, stroke, cardiac (cath lab), behavioral health, and substance use disorder cases
  • Stabilization and transfer responsibilities for neurosurgery, multi-system trauma, and high-acuity pediatric patients
  • Patient ratios of 1:3–5 based on acuity
  • 12-hour day shifts; available shift times include 7a–7p, 9a–9p, 10a–10p, 11a–11p, 12p–12a, 1p–1a, 2p–2a, 3p–3a, and 7p–7a
  • Every other weekend rotation required; back-to-back weekends are possible but rare — flexibility expected
  • No floating required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Epic EMR — experience strongly preferred

Requirements

  • Active WA state RN license or compact RN license required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC
  • Minimum 3 years of RN experience in a large-volume, high-acuity ED
  • Triage experience required — must pass the facility's Triage Test before being cleared to triage
  • Proficiency with barcode scanning medication administration, medication drip management, and blood product administration
  • Ability to set up chest tubes and arterial lines, assist with trauma and code cases, perform splinting, and manage BiPAP/ventilators
  • Solid understanding of ESI (Emergency Severity Index)
  • Pediatric emergency medicine experience highly preferred
  • Point-of-care lab experience is a plus
  • Two supervisory references (Charge Nurse level or above) required prior to start; one reference sufficient for initial consideration
  • Candidates must complete a clinical interview and unit review via SimpliFi

Additional Information

  • Administer TNK for stroke patients and coordinate care for cardiac cath lab patients
  • Stabilize and prepare high-acuity patients for transfer when advanced services (e.g., neurosurgery) are not available on site
  • Scrubs may be any color; logos are not permitted
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
