Description

American Traveler is hiring a Vascular Interventional Radiology Technologist with 2+ years of IR experience, including peripheral vascular, embolization, and venous procedures, for a Level 1 Trauma facility.

Details

  • Vascular Interventional Radiology department within a Heart & Vascular Institute at an acute care hospital
  • Patient population includes those requiring invasive cardiology or invasive radiology studies
  • Procedures include peripheral vascular work, venous central lines, tube changes, embolization (arterial and venous), venous thrombectomy, dialysis access (AV fistulas, tunneled dialysis catheters, peritoneal dialysis catheters), tube access and changes (G-tube, Chole, Neph, Biliary, Abscess, SPC), and neuro interventions (cerebral arterial/venous, kyphoplasty)
  • 4x9 hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–5:00 PM
  • On-call duties on a rotation basis
  • Epic EMR required

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Vascular Interventional Radiology
  • Experience with peripheral vascular work, venous central lines, tube changes, and embolization (arterial and venous) required
  • Experience with venous thrombectomy required
  • Interventional Neurology experience preferred
  • Associate's Degree in a related field or Certificate in Radiologic Technology required
  • Active BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications required
  • ARRT (R) certification required
  • Illinois IEMA Radiography License required; license required if applicable
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Level 1 Trauma experience required
  • Ability to work within and maintain a sterile field during procedures
  • Manual dexterity to handle small supplies
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

  • Assist the physician in all invasive IR procedures within the Heart & Vascular Institute
  • Administer contrast material via existing IV line or venipuncture; recognize and respond to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions
  • Assess patients for allergies and administer or withhold contrast and treatment as appropriate
  • Accurately communicate intra-procedural medication doses, radiation counts, and sponge/sharp counts to the procedural nurse
  • Check for correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment positioning
  • Compile pertinent clinical information (lab, pathology, etc.) and document accurately and completely
  • May assist in the instruction and onboarding of new staff as needed
  • RTO not to exceed 7 days per 13-week contract
  • Candidates who have been on assignment at this health system for 1 continuous year must take a 6-month break in service before returning to any location within the system
