Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring a minimum of 2 years of telemetry or PCU experience and NIHSS certification.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a hospital setting with 48 beds
- Telemetry and medically complex patient population
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 4:1, may flex up to 5:1
- 12-hour night shifts, 1900–0730, 3 days per week (36 hrs/week)
- Weekends required as needed
- On-call and call-back coverage required as needed
- Floating between departments and/or local locations within 20 miles is required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- No charge nurse or precepting responsibilities
Requirements
- Active NM RN license or a valid Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications through AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a telemetry or progressive care unit (18+ beds) required
- At least one completed 13-week travel assignment required
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN or ASN) required
- Must successfully pass an on-site Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test prior to starting the assignment
Additional Information
- Provides direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of individual patient needs
- Coordinates care through collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team
- Assumes clinical supervision of LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel
- Recognizes, de-escalates, and responds to deteriorating patient conditions
- BCA testing is administered on-site during the first day of orientation; one retest is permitted upon failure — a second failure will result in contract termination
- Candidates who were previously permanent staff must wait one year before being considered as a traveler
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Solid scrubs required with matching tops and bottoms
