Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2+ years of MS/Tele experience and EPIC charting proficiency in the past year.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit within an acute care hospital
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18:30-7:00)
• Patient ratios of 1:5, with potential for 1:6-7
• Weekend requirement of 6 shifts per 6 weeks
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• No on-call responsibilities
• Care for patients with diagnoses including altered mental status, CHF, stroke, ortho, surgical, DKA, and infections
• Cardiac telemetry monitoring required, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Uses EPIC charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license, Oklahoma State or Compact, required at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of direct Med/Surg experience in a hospital setting within the past year required
• PCU experience will not be accepted in place of MS experience
• EPIC charting experience required within the past year
• Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers considered only with 4+ years of MS/Tele experience
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, PICC line management, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), oxygen administration, heparin and insulin administration, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Preferred skills include blood product administration, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, cardiac drip management, and telemetry remote monitoring

Additional Information

• Care for a Med/Surg Tele patient population including renal, GI, respiratory, and neuro/psych needs, with occasional substance withdrawal cases
• Level 3 Trauma Center with 171 staffed beds
• Scrub color varies by unit
• Free parking available
• Facility maintains a zero-fault attendance policy where missed shifts (regardless of reason) count as unexcused, with warnings issued after 2 absences and possible cancellation after 3+
• RTO limited to a maximum of 5 days within the assignment, with no time off approved around major holidays
• No additional RTO requests accepted after submission or while on contract
• No block or special scheduling requests accommodated
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Previous travelers or perm employees of this facility are not eligible for consideration
• Completion of required training modules (3-4 hours average) needed prior to start date
