Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a Level 3 Trauma Center in Oklahoma, requiring a minimum of 2 years of hospital experience and at least 2 prior successful travel assignments.
Details
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM
- 13-week contract
- Acute care hospital setting with 171 staffed beds
- Med/Surg Telemetry unit caring for patients with diagnoses including altered mental status, CHF, stroke, orthopedic conditions, surgical cases, DKA, and infections
- Unit may also care for patients with mental health diagnoses
- Patient ratio of 1:5, with the possibility of 1:6-7
- Charting via Epic (experience required; must have used Epic in Oklahoma or within the past year)
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
- 3 weekend shifts required per 6-week period
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling is not available
- Free on-site parking
Requirements
- Active RN license (Oklahoma or Compact) — no pending licenses accepted
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of hospital nursing experience required
- At least 2 completed travel assignments with no performance or attendance issues required — first-time travelers will not be considered
- Candidates with more than 4 years of experience must have travel experience
- Strong cardiac nursing skills required (self-rating of 3 or above)
- Basic dysrhythmia training preferred (self-rating of 3 or above)
- Epic EMR experience required, with Oklahoma-based or recent use (within the past year) preferred
- No background hits allowed
- Must be able to complete all assigned pre-start modules before the start date
Additional Information
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers — no radius restriction
- RTO is capped at 5 days for the full 13-week assignment; no RTO may be requested after the time of consideration or while on contract
- No RTO will be approved the day before, the day of, or the day after a holiday
- The facility enforces a zero-fault attendance policy — any missed scheduled shift, regardless of reason, is counted as unexcused; 2 missed shifts result in a warning and 3 or more may result in cancellation
- Scrub color varies by unit
- Candidates must commit to completing lab compliance requirements within 48–72 hours of signing
