Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Step Down Unit night shift position requiring a minimum of 2 years of bedside experience and proficiency with vents, vasopressors, and insulin drips.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting with 233 total staffed beds
- Step Down Unit (SDU) with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend requirement: Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday depending on current rotation
- Floating may be required to lower-acuity floors as needed
- Charting via Epic (experience required)
- Free on-site parking available
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or Compact RN license required; IL candidates may apply with a pending IL license
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Must have hands-on experience with titration of vasopressors, sedation medications, and insulin drips
- Must have experience with trach/vents, arterial lines, external pacemakers, and chest tubes
- Must have been working at the bedside within the last 6 months
- Epic EMR experience required
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before being considered as a traveler
- Travelers may work at this facility for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Block scheduling is not available for this position
- Navy scrubs are required
