Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Progressive Care Unit night shift position requiring a MO or Compact RN license and at least 2 years of recent specialty experience.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in an academic teaching hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period, with shifts falling on any combination of Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
• No on-call requirement
• Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed, including to the Emergency Department for inpatient holding
• Patient population includes cardiac (post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery), neurological (CVA), renal, respiratory, orthopedic (total joint replacements), and post-surgical cases
• Clinical skills required include: telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote), dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response team utilization, IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, central/PICC/peripheral line management, heparin protocols, cardiac drip titration, PCA, procedural sedation, chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy management, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions

Requirements

• Active MO or Compact RN license — both Kansas and Missouri (or Compact) licenses must be in hand at time of consideration, as floating between facilities may require dual licensure
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/progressive care specialty experience required
• Must have at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
• Previous charge nurse and teaching hospital experience preferred
• 2 professional references required: at least one must be at the supervisor level or above; the second may be a charge RN; both must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
• Candidate's home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• SSN required for consideration

• Charge RN assignments may be required as needed per unit
• Holiday shift coverage required as assigned
• RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
• Block scheduling is not available for this position
• Travel partners (co-assignments) are not accepted for this position
• Completion of compliance modules (approximately 10–15 hours) is required prior to start
• Drug screening is required; a diluted or positive result that cannot be cleared may result in assignment cancellation and a 6-month waiting period before reapplying
