Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/IMCU (Progressive Care Unit) position at a tertiary care hospital in Rochester, NY, requiring an active NY RN license and Epic experience for a 13-week night shift contract.

Details

• Work in a 26-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), a critical care step-down unit within a 528-bed tertiary care hospital
• Patient population consists of adult acute care patients requiring more specialized care than a general med-surg unit, including patients from the ED, PACU, ICU, and med-surg floors
• Patients include those requiring airway management, acute BIPAP support, arterial lines, central lines, and titrated IV medication infusions
• All patients receive continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring
• Patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7
• Schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00–07:00)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required
• 13-week assignment

Requirements

• Active NY RN license currently in hand — no exceptions
• Current BLS certification required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Ability to manage a 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio in a med-surg/step-down environment
• Skills required include: interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias, use of Rapid Response/Code teams, peripheral IV line care and management, phlebotomy, nasal cannula and oxygen face mask use, portable oxygen tank management, non-invasive airway management, and isolation precautions
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates; candidates within 75 miles may be considered as locals
