Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a NICU position in Dallas, TX, requiring a minimum of 1 year of Level III NICU experience and current NRP certification.
Details
- 108-bed NICU unit located in Building A, North Tower, 4th Floor of a large hospital in Dallas, TX
- Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:4 depending on acuity
- Unit is staffed with RNs, LVNs, PCTs, and Nurse Externs
- Patient population includes neonates, with care extending to patients under 2 years of age
- Equipment used includes nasal cannula, bubble CPAP, ventilators, oscillators, IV pumps, NIRS, warmers, and isolettes
- Procedures performed on the unit include central line insertions, circumcisions, exploratory laps, gastroschisis reductions, and PDA ligations
- EMR systems: CPN and Meditech
- Schedule: three 12-hour night shifts per week (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), rotating weekends and holidays
- Floating may be required to PICU, Pediatrics, or CICU, with contract staff floating before permanent staff
Requirements
- Active TX RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- Current NRP Advanced 9th Edition certification (American Academy of Pediatrics card required)
- Minimum 1 year of recent Level III NICU experience required
- Experience with premature infants (28 weeks gestation and above) required
- Experience managing central lines and respiratory management up to and including intubated patients required
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — Canadian SSNs are not accepted
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Advanced skills and experience preferred include care of surgical and cardiac neonatal patients, experience with infants under 27 weeks gestation, care of trach infants, and experience with broviacs
- Royal blue scrubs are required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- 13-week contract

Move closer to the facility; traffic in the city is horrible, and the express toll costs can vary from day to day.
