Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical/Neuro unit position in Nashville, TN, requiring a TN or compact RN license and at least 2 years of Med/Surg experience.

• Located on a 20-bed Neuro Med/Surg unit (3rd Floor) in a hospital setting in Nashville, TN
• Patient ratio of 6:1
• Tech support available on both day and night shifts; unit secretary available 7a–7p
• Equipment used includes IV pumps, telemetry monitors, SCDs, continuous pulse ox machines, feeding pumps, PCA pumps, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and iMobile communication technology
• Documentation system: Meditech
• Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, three 12-hour shifts per week
• Two weekends (4 shifts) required per 4-week schedule
• Contract travelers are first to float; rotation applies when multiple contract staff are scheduled
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license — TN state license or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
• Proficiency in IV insertion, basic wound care, and maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
• Ability to prioritize care and multitask in a fast-paced environment
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
• One professional reference required
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• The facility is an ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Certified Chest Pain Center
• Candidates are expected to deliver attentive, compassionate care, conduct bedside shift reports, and actively involve patients and family members in the plan of care
• Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms) required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
