Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiothoracic ICU position requiring CVICU/CTICU experience, Epic proficiency, and a VA or Compact RN license.

Details

  • Cardiothoracic ICU (CTICU) in a hospital setting with an 8-bed unit
  • Post-operative CABG adult patients, Acute Coronary Syndrome (NSTEMI, STEMI), CHF
  • Universal bed model — ICU patients downgraded to step-down status remain in the CTICU until discharge, requiring care of both ICU and step-down level patients
  • Patient ratio: 1:1–2
  • Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Schedule is 3x12 or 4x12 shifts per week
  • Block scheduling is not available
  • Weekday, every other weekend, and holiday coverage required within the contract period
  • Floating is required
  • EMR: Epic proficiency required
  • Monitoring equipment used includes Hemosphere, Quantum, and Accuryn

Requirements

  • Active VA or Compact RN license currently in hand — no exceptions
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association required
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of CVICU/CTICU experience required
  • Epic proficiency required — no exceptions
  • Required skills: arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, IV insertion, continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multi-system organ failure, CABG care, IABP, Impella, post-cardiac surgery care (directly and not directly from OR), pre/post cardiac cath/intervention, PA line/Swan-Ganz monitoring, IV insulin protocols, CVVHD/CRRT, CVA/acute stroke management, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, HFNC, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, ventilator management, infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE, and surgical wound/wound vac care
  • Preferred skills: thermoregulation (hypothermia/hyperthermia), chronic/acute renal failure, port access, external ventricular drain (EVD) management, and ICP monitoring
  • Strong neuro experience required, including post-brain surgery and EVD/ventriculostomy experience
  • Clean license and background required — any prior hits will disqualify a candidate
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
  • Driver's license required for address verification
  • Two professional references required for consideration
  • Social Security card copy required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Travel experience is preferred but not required
  • The 50-mile radius rule is a baseline eligibility requirement — candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be considered
