Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Admissions unit position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring 2+ years of Med/Surg experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• 15-bed admissions unit within an acute care hospital setting, with all private rooms
• Receives patients who are ready for discharge from the ER but have not yet been assigned to a specific inpatient unit
• Performs initial admissions and provides care until patients are transferred to their designated unit
• General medical/surgical patient population
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
• 12-hour shifts rotating days and nights (0700–1930 or 1900–0730)
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating to other medical/surgical units required as needed
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• Equipment includes Zebra phones for communication, Omnicell for medication management, and Aleris IV pumps
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active ND or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA) required — must be active and non-pending at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience required
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• 2 current professional references required: 1 from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 from a peer or supervisor in the same specialty within the last 3 years

Additional Information

• New medical/surgical admissions unit with a fast-paced work environment
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Orientation is 8 hours
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Candidates living between 60 and 80 miles from the facility may be considered at a reduced travel pay rate
• Previous employment at any Sanford Health location must be disclosed for eligibility review
