Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU (Progressive Care Unit) position requiring a minimum of 18 months of experience, telemetry skills, and night shift availability at a short-term acute care hospital in Indiana.

Details

Work in a Cardiac and Medical PCU functioning as a true ICU stepdown unit in a short-term acute care hospital with 194 staffed beds
Patient population includes heart cath patients, and those requiring BiPAP, cardiac drips, and vasoactive drips (e.g., Levo, Dopa, Nitro, Cardizem, Amio)
Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (18:00–06:30)
Weekend availability required
Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required to meet facility needs
Charting system: Cerner (experience required)
Scrub color: red top, black bottoms
Free parking available
Travel pairs are not accepted for this unit

Requirements

Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand; pending licenses are not accepted
Nursing degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
Current certifications required: ACLS and BLS (AHA or RQI accepted); NIH Stroke Scale preferred
Minimum 18 months of RN experience required
Telemetry, IV start, cardiac and vasoactive drip management, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen experience required
Trauma level experience (Level I, II, III, or IV) required
Cerner EMR experience required
Ventilator management, charge nurse experience, and conscious sedation experience preferred

Additional Information

First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Local candidates are not accepted for this PCU position
Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
RTO of 5 days or fewer may be auto-approved
Former permanent or PRN employees of the health system must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
Indiana RN license holders should be aware that this health system has restrictions on IN-licensed RNs; PCU positions are not exempt from this policy — an IN or Compact license is required, so candidates should confirm eligibility
