Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU/IMCU) position in Rochester, NY, requiring an active NY RN license and Epic EMR experience for a night shift contract.

Details

• Step-down Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) within a 528-bed tertiary care hospital
• 26-bed unit receiving patients from the ED, PACU, ICU, and medical-surgical floors
• Adult acute care patient population requiring a higher level of care than general med-surg
• Patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7
• All patients have continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring
• Cares for patients requiring airway management, acute BiPAP support, arterial lines, central lines, and titrated IV infusions
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Epic EMR — experience required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NY RN license currently in hand — no exceptions
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Ability to manage a 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio in a med-surg/step-down environment
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias, rapid response and code team participation, peripheral IV care and management, respiratory support (nasal cannula, face masks, portable oxygen, non-invasive airway management), and isolation precautions
• Unit operates with a multidisciplinary team approach emphasizing evidence-based, compassionate care
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate
