Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/IMCU (Step-Down) position in Rochester, NY, requiring an active NY RN license and Epic experience for a night shift, 13-week contract.

Details

• 26-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), a critical care step-down unit within a 528-bed tertiary care hospital
• Receives patients from the ED, PACU, ICU, and medical-surgical floors
• Adult acute care patient population requiring more specialized care than a general med-surg unit
• All patients on continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring
• Cares for patients requiring airway management, acute BiPAP support, arterial lines, central lines, and titrated IV medication infusions
• Patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7 (MedSurg acuity)
• Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
• Every other weekend required
• 13-week contract
• Epic EMR (experience required)

Requirements

• Active NY RN license currently in hand — no exceptions
• Current BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with IV therapy, peripheral line care and management, and phlebotomy
• Experience with respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, and non-invasive airway management
• Familiarity with isolation precautions
• Experience with Rapid Response and Code team protocols
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

• Team is described as adaptive, vigilant, and compassionate using a multidisciplinary approach
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates
