Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel contract at a Level I Trauma hospital, requiring at least 2 years of recent OR experience and strong Neuro/Ortho skills.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting with Level I Trauma designation and 25 OR suites
- Averages 75–100 surgical cases per day
- Primary focus on Neuro and Ortho procedures, with additional work in General surgery, GYN, Urology, and laparoscopic cases
- Experience with robotics preferred, specifically DaVinci
- Equipment includes cautery, lasers, laparoscopic and arthroscopy equipment, Stealth navigation for Neuro cases, and Accudose
- Charting performed in Epic
- 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
- 8-hour day shifts, with potential for 10-hour shifts; shift extensions required as needed (not classified as call-back)
- Rotating to PM shift in rotation with all staff
- Call required 1–2 days per week and every 3–5 weekends
- Occasional floating to alternate campus locations may be required (rare)
Requirements
- Active ND or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR RN experience required
- Large hospital experience required (250+ beds with Level I Trauma status)
- Experience in an acute facility with 15 or more OR suites required; outpatient center experience does not meet this requirement
- Strong Neuro and Ortho surgical experience required
- Experience with General surgery, GYN, Urology, and laparoscopic cases required
- Experience with robotic surgery preferred; DaVinci specifically preferred
- Experience with Stealth navigation preferred
- Two current professional references required: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and one from a peer or supervisor in the same specialty within the last 3 years
- All certifications must be active (no pending certifications accepted)
- Skills checklist required for consideration
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include circulating duties: sterile prepping of surgical sites, catheter insertion, opening sterile supplies, patient positioning, electronic documentation, and OR equipment setup and operation
- Ceil blue scrubs are provided by the facility
- Candidates must badge in and out at the facility
- Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
- Candidates living between 60 and 80 miles of the facility may be eligible but at a reduced travel pay rate
- Candidates with previous employment at any Sanford Health location must disclose it; a prior Sanford end date of at least 6 months before the candidate's submission date is required
- An interview with the unit manager will be conducted prior to an offer being made
