Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Specialty Care (Cardiovascular ICU) position requiring at least one prior travel assignment and a minimum of 2 years of cardiac critical care experience.

Details

• Position is in a Cardiac Specialty Care unit (cardiovascular ICU setting)
• 12-hour night shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a 12+ bed cardiac critical care and/or intensive care unit required
• Patient population includes cardiac critical care cases; open heart, LVAD, and balloon pump cases may be encountered
• Floating between departments and/or local locations within 20 miles is required
• Epic EMR used; experience preferred but not required — on-site training available

Requirements

• Active RN license for the State of New Mexico or a Compact State license currently in hand
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — BLS and ACLS must be issued by the American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
• Minimum ADN or ASN degree required
• At least 2 years of current experience in a 12+ bed cardiac critical care and/or ICU setting
• Must have successfully completed at least one prior 13-week travel assignment
• Must be a team player, flexible, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
• English proficiency required (speak, read, write)

Additional Information

• Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document patient care for an assigned group of patients
• Coordinates patient care in collaboration with the patient, family, and the broader healthcare team
• Initiates and documents appropriate protocols and standards of care; administers medications and treatments per physician order or standing protocols
• Assumes clinical supervision responsibilities for LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel
• Identifies and addresses patient and family learning and discharge needs throughout the episode of care
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
• A Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test is required and will be administered on-site during the first day of orientation; candidates who do not pass will not be able to continue the assignment
• Candidates who have previously worked at this health system must wait one year before being considered as a traveler
• Open heart, LVAD, and balloon pump experience is preferred
