Description
American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist for a 13-week travel contract in Austin, TX, with required neuro experience across acute, inpatient rehab, and outpatient settings.
Details
- Works across three care settings: inpatient rehab (IPR), outpatient (OP), and acute hospital
- Facility includes a 64-bed inpatient rehab unit and a 400-bed acute hospital with full outpatient services
- Day shift schedule: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, with 7- or 10-hour shift options on weekdays and weekends
- Weekend rotation required based on weekly utilization, approximately 1–2 weekend days per 4-week period
- Patient care expectation is 75% direct patient care per 8-hour shift
- Therapists may be required to transition between multiple programs within a single day
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of PT experience; allied candidates must have at least 6 months of experience within the last 6 months
- Neuro background required, including SCI, brain injury (BI), and stroke rehab
- Experience across multiple settings required: acute, IPR, and outpatient
- Active PT license required where applicable
- BLS certification required; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration — no exceptions; no Canadian SSNs accepted
- One professional reference required (two required for candidates licensed in Florida or Missouri)
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include following the provided schedule, coordinating with the interdisciplinary team, and meeting productivity standards
- Familiarity with IPR post-acute guidelines and the CARE tool assessment is a plus
- Facility is an HCA Center of Excellence for Stroke, SCI, and Amputee care, and is pursuing COE designation for Brain Injury and Cancer programs; Comprehensive Stroke Certified
- Strong time management, communication, and collaboration skills are essential for success on this team
- Caribbean blue scrubs required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
