Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position on a hospital tower unit, requiring Level 1 Trauma experience and the ability to pass a pre-employment dysrhythmia exam.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting on a Cardiac Telemetry unit (Tower 7)
  • Patient population includes post-CABG, MVR, STEMI, heart failure, fundoplication, VATS decortication, and vascular repair cases
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 or 1:4
  • RNs are required to titrate drips including Heparin, Cardizem, and Amiodarone
  • Telemetry monitored by off-unit tele techs; RNs must be able to interpret common cardiac rhythms using GE tele packs and monitors
  • RT equipment on unit includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
  • 1 PCT per 16 beds
  • Charge/resource nurse ideally does not take a patient assignment
  • Charting system: Cerner
  • 12-hour day shifts
  • 3 weekend shifts required per 4-week scheduling block
  • Holiday coverage required based on unit needs
  • Self-scheduling allowed as requests, balanced with scheduler
  • No on-call or standby requirement
  • Floating required to all other applicable areas
  • 2-day unit-specific orientation
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active AZ RN license or Compact (NLC) license required; pending licenses will not be accepted
  • Current BLS certification required; pending certifications not accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Level 1 Trauma experience required
  • Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam before an offer can be confirmed (2 attempts allowed)
  • Experience with post-operative cardiovascular surgery patients is highly recommended
  • Ability to interpret common cardiac rhythms required
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • Valid driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Candidates must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility; driver's license is used to verify permanent address
  • On Day 1 of orientation, nurses must pass a pass/fail SIMs Lab covering sterile Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes; failure to maintain sterile field can result in immediate termination
  • Orientation also includes educational components for lifts, restraints, and wound care
  • Candidates who fail both attempts of the Relias Dysrhythmia exam and/or the SIMs Lab sterile technique test are ineligible to work at CommonSpirit facilities in Arizona and the Sacramento, CA region for 6 months
  • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
  • Dress code requires navy blue scrubs (not provided by the facility)
  • Natural hair color required; facial piercings are not permitted
  • Men must be clean-shaven (for fit testing purposes)
  • Travel nurses must have their own personal vehicle
