Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Observation Unit position requiring Epic EMR experience and Level 1 Trauma background, working nights in an Illinois hospital setting.

• Work in a hospital Observation Unit (Med/Surg)
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• 36 hours per week, three 12-hour shifts
• Epic EMR used; experience required

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing required (temp license accepted)
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association) required
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Associate's degree (ASN) required; BSN preferred
• English proficiency (speak, read, and write) required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include completing patient admissions and assessments, developing and modifying care plans, administering medications per the 5 Rights, and performing hourly rounding
• Delegates and validates patient care tasks assigned to Health Care Technicians (HCTs)
• Maintains documentation standards including care plan updates, patient education, and communication board upkeep
• Focuses on timely admission and discharge processes for Observation status patients to facilitate efficient patient flow
• Upholds patient safety protocols including fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation precautions, and safe ambulation
• RTO is not to exceed 7 days per 13-week contract
• Candidates who have been on continuous assignment with this health system for 1 year must take a 6-month break before returning to any location within the system
