Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology position on a 32-bed unit working 12-hour night shifts with oncology experience preferred.

Details

• Position is located on the 4 West Med/Surg Oncology unit, a 32-bed inpatient setting
• Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• 12-hour night shifts
• Proficiency with Hoyer lift, Arjo equipment, Alaris pumps, epidural/PCA pumps, Kangaroo pumps, and wound vacs required
• Common procedures include CVC line draws, IV starts, and medication administration
• High flow O2 management is part of the role

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
• Dysrhythmia exam must be passed prior to starting (2 attempts allowed; study guides provided)
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Proof of address (e.g., Driver's License, Voter Registration card, Federal Tax Return, Military Form 2058, or W2) required for consideration
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
• 1 supervisory reference required for consideration
• Copy of certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

• Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates; local candidates are not accepted for this position
• Responsibilities include performing and documenting comprehensive patient assessments and maintaining current nursing care plans
• RN serves as a point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams
• RN acts as a patient advocate in collaboration with spiritual care, palliative care, and ethics teams
• Role involves identifying patient and family learning needs and providing individualized education
• Work environment may include periods of high stress, fluctuating workloads, exposure to human blood and infectious materials, and potential physical altercations
