Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a Chest Pain and Stroke Center hospital in Charlotte, NC, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Surg Tele experience and a willingness to float across a multi-facility region.

Details

  • 12-hour day shifts (0700-1900), 36 hours per week
  • Work on a 32-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit with an average census of 32 patients
  • Patient population includes stroke, seizure, altered mental status, generalized weakness, AKI/CKD, falls, cellulitis, and non-healing wounds
  • RN-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6, with potential surge staffing up to 1:7-8
  • Unit is located within a hospital with a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designation (non-trauma, non-teaching)
  • EMR is Epic; experience is required
  • Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, and Rover communication devices
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
  • Floating is required across Region 2 facilities, including Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, and Central Division (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, and Levine Children's Hospital) — candidates who are not agreeable to this floating requirement should not apply
  • No on-call or call-back requirements

Requirements

  • Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Telemetry experience, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation
  • Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone) required
  • General medical/surgical skillset required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • Comprehensive departmental support includes CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, a free-floating charge nurse, 24/7 phlebotomy, 24/7 IV/VAT team, a unit-dedicated pharmacist, two case managers, a Med/Surg Clinical Nurse Specialist, 24/7 respiratory therapy (performs nebulizer treatments), a nurse educator, 24/7 hospitalist, and APP support
  • There is no remote telemetry monitoring — the unit clerk, charge/clinical supervisor, and staff are responsible for reading and posting telemetry every shift
  • Orientation includes new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Required scrub color for RNs is navy blue
  • Parking is complimentary
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
  • Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
