Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and the ability to circulate and transition newborns.

Details

• Labor & Delivery unit in a hospital setting delivering 200–300 births per month
• Rotation through triage, antepartum, labor, circulate, and transition — no postpartum assignment
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted

Requirements

• Active TX or Compact RN license required; pending license may be accepted but must be active before start
• Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and NRP
• Preferred certifications: AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate, and FHM
• Must be able to circulate for C-sections and transition newborns
• Prior charge nurse experience required
• 2 supervisory references from within the last 3 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities span the full L&D scope including triage, antepartum care, labor management, C-section circulation and recovery, fetal monitoring (external and internal), and neonatal care in the delivery room
• Preferred skills include high-risk antepartum care, hemorrhage/shock management, and assisting with high-risk deliveries
• Clinical skills include magnesium sulfate therapy, Pitocin, antihypertensives, insulin drips, IUPC placement, EFM, blood product administration, and pain management (epidural, PCA)
• An on-site drug screen will be conducted upon arrival covering multiple panels including marijuana; a positive result results in immediate cancellation with no exceptions — candidates should avoid CBD products as well
• Holiday coverage is expected
• First-time travelers will be considered provided they have appropriate L&D experience
