Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an ICU position requiring strong neuro experience, Epic proficiency, and a valid VA or Compact RN license in hand.

Details

• Hospital ICU setting located in the Chesapeake, VA area (Coastal Virginia), minutes from Virginia Beach and Norfolk
• Patient population includes neurosurgical and post-stroke, respiratory failure, renal failure, post-surgical, trauma, sepsis and MODS, heart failure, and post-cardiac cath patients
• Patient ratio of 1:2–3
• Night shift, 7p–7:30a, with schedule options of 3x12 or 4x12
• Weekday and every-other-weekend (EOW) shifts required
• Floating required to Stepdown Unit, and may also float to ED or Med-Surg to care for ICU-held patients
• Holiday coverage required within the contract period
• Epic EMR — proficiency required, no exceptions

Requirements

• Active VA or Compact RN license currently in hand — no exceptions
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Strong neuro experience required, including post-neurosurgical care, external ventricular drain (EVD) management, and stroke
• Proficiency with mechanical ventilators, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, and dysrhythmia and emergency management
• 3 years of critical care (CC) experience preferred; strong candidates with less experience will be considered
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — a driver's license will be required for address verification prior to any offer acceptance
• Two professional references required for consideration
• Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to a complex, high-acuity patient population including neurosurgical, stroke, trauma, sepsis, and cardiac patients
• Candidates with any license or background hits will not be considered
• Strong neuro experience is a primary requirement and will be closely evaluated during the review process
