Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a community hospital in Indiana, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and active Cerner charting skills.

Details

• Works on the sole Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a community hospital setting
• Patient population includes post-op, ED admissions, and ICU/PCU downgrades
• Unit averages 8–12 admissions over a 24-hour period
• Target patient ratio is 5:1 with charge nurse out of staffing; may flex to 6:1
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend (EOW) coverage required
• Floating is possible but unlikely; if required, float is limited to taking Med/Surg patients in the ICU, PCU, or ED for holds
• Charting performed in Cerner (experience required)

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license — must be in hand at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or RQI accepted)
• NIHSS certification preferred
• All certifications must be current at time of consideration
• Nursing degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they meet the 2-year experience requirement
• Local candidates are not accepted for this position
• Must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved
• Former permanent or PRN employees of this health system must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Travelers may be required to float within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
