Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiac ICU (PCICU) / Open Heart PICU position at a Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching, and top-rated children's hospital in Florida, requiring a minimum of 2-3 years of open heart PICU experience and prior travel nursing experience.
Details
- Position is in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU), which serves both open heart and general PICU patients within a leading academic medical system
- Patient population includes a diverse range of complex pediatric acute care cases, including post-open heart surgery patients
- 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (variable days)
- 36 hours per week
- Holiday and weekend coverage is required
- Floating to other units is required; travel staff float before facility staff during float periods
- No block scheduling
- Epic EMR used on unit
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active FL or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2-3 years of RN experience specifically in open heart PICU (PCICU) required; PCICU open heart experience must be clearly reflected in work history
- At least 3 years of Level 2/3 PCICU skills experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Recent Epic EMR experience required
- Flu vaccine required prior to start date; only accepted exemption is a physician-documented vaccine reaction (egg allergy is not a valid exemption)
- At least one professional reference dated within the past 12 months required for consideration
Additional Information
- This is a Level 1 Trauma and academic teaching facility recognized as a top-rated children's hospital in Florida
- All new RN starts must pass a specialty knowledge exam and an EKG exam, each with a minimum passing score of 80%; 100% of lethal rhythms must be identified correctly on the EKG exam regardless of overall score
- Candidates are encouraged to review cardiac rhythms in the week prior to their start date
- A unit manager interview is required
- No RTO (time off requests) permitted during the first 2 weeks of the assignment; a maximum of 6 RTO days is allowed for the 13-week contract
- Candidates who have not lived or worked outside a 50-mile radius of the facility are not eligible for this position
