Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ED RN for a Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital emergency department requiring at least 2 years of ED experience and a GA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Large academic medical center ED with 61+ beds, Level 1 Trauma designation, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center accreditation
  • Patient population includes chest pain, stroke, diabetes, abdominal pain, MVCs, hypertension, stabbings, and mental health presentations
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 depending on assigned zone, with CNAs and unit secretary support on the floor
  • Drip experience required: Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, and Levophed
  • EMR: Epic (experience required)
  • Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis med dispensing, Philips monitors, VS3 vital sign monitors, Glucommander, Belmont Rapid Infuser, and PCA pain management systems
  • 12-hour day shifts, 7A–7P, 36 hours per week; night shift (7P–7A) may also apply
  • Weekend rotation of 5–6 shifts per 6-week schedule cycle
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating within the ED; may also float to Baldwin unit as needed

Requirements

  • Active RN license — GA or compact license required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC
  • EKG/basic cardiac rhythm (BCR) competency exam required as part of compliance process
  • Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Level 1 Trauma emergency nursing experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth for consideration
  • At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before being eligible

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted — no radius rule applies, same rate offered to local travelers
  • Orientation consists of 1 day of general facility orientation with educational modules, followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Holiday coverage required: one shift per major holiday grouping (Thanksgiving or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1)
  • Time off requests require manager approval
  • RN scrub color: Navy
  • Departmental support includes CNAs, unit secretary, charge nurse, phlebotomy, PICC team, RT 24/7, Hospitalist 24/7, Intensivist 24/7, and central telemetry monitoring
