Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a SICU position in Chattanooga, TN, requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and cardiac critical care background.

Details

12-bed Surgical ICU (SICU) within a main hospital building in Chattanooga, TN
Standard ICU nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2, adjusted based on patient acuity
Cardiac critical care patient population, including post open-heart surgery patients (minimum 1–2 days post-op)
Procedures performed on unit include intubations, CRRT, and hemodynamic monitoring
Specialized equipment includes Impella heart pump and Hemosphere advanced monitoring platform
EMR system: Meditech
Day shift schedule, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Minimum of 3 weekend shifts required per month
Floating required to other units within the facility, including PCU and medical-surgical
13-week contract

Requirements

Active TN or Compact RN license required
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment)
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for ICU RNs
Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
Cardiac critical care experience required
Experience caring for post open-heart surgery patients required
US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
One professional reference required
No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

CCRN certification is a plus
Experience with Impella heart pump and CRRT is a plus
Critical care staff, including travelers, are expected to respond to rapid response calls and code blues
Navy scrubs required
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
Participative scheduling is used; manager reserves the right to adjust schedules to fill gaps
