Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Acute Care Oncology/IMC (Med/Surg) position requiring at least 2 years of IMC or strong Med/Surg experience and prior oncology background, working night shifts at a large academic medical center.

Details

  • Position is located within an Intermediate Care (IMC)/Telemetry unit and an Acute Care Oncology (Med/Surg) unit, with floating required between both units
  • Patient population consists of adult oncology patients, including those with leukemia and benign hematology diagnoses
  • Procedures and care include central line management, blood transfusions, chemotherapy administration (by staff RNs; agency nurses are not required to administer chemo), and cardiac monitoring with supplemental oxygen
  • Strong telemetry monitoring skills are required
  • Alaris pump experience is preferred
  • Epic EMR experience is required
  • Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Requirements

  • Active MD or Compact RN license currently in hand
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of IMC or strong Med/Surg experience required
  • Prior oncology experience or background required
  • Experience with a facility of 500+ beds required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Strong telemetry experience required
  • Experience with central lines, blood transfusions, and management of patients requiring cardiac monitoring and supplemental oxygen
  • Chemo certification preferred
  • 1–2 prior travel assignments preferred
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • 1 professional reference required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Float between the IMC/Telemetry unit (WBG5A) and the Acute Care Oncology Med/Surg unit (WBG5B)
  • Chemotherapy is administered on the unit; however, agency nurses are not required to administer it
  • Orientation is held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same bill rate
