Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Acute Care Oncology/IMC (Med/Surg) position requiring at least 2 years of IMC or strong Med/Surg experience and prior oncology background, working night shifts at a large academic medical center.
Details
- Position is located within an Intermediate Care (IMC)/Telemetry unit and an Acute Care Oncology (Med/Surg) unit, with floating required between both units
- Patient population consists of adult oncology patients, including those with leukemia and benign hematology diagnoses
- Procedures and care include central line management, blood transfusions, chemotherapy administration (by staff RNs; agency nurses are not required to administer chemo), and cardiac monitoring with supplemental oxygen
- Strong telemetry monitoring skills are required
- Alaris pump experience is preferred
- Epic EMR experience is required
- Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Requirements
- Active MD or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of IMC or strong Med/Surg experience required
- Prior oncology experience or background required
- Experience with a facility of 500+ beds required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Strong telemetry experience required
- Experience with central lines, blood transfusions, and management of patients requiring cardiac monitoring and supplemental oxygen
- Chemo certification preferred
- 1–2 prior travel assignments preferred
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- 1 professional reference required for consideration
Additional Information
- Float between the IMC/Telemetry unit (WBG5A) and the Acute Care Oncology Med/Surg unit (WBG5B)
- Chemotherapy is administered on the unit; however, agency nurses are not required to administer it
- Orientation is held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month
- Local candidates are accepted at the same bill rate
