Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU) travel position requiring at least 2 years of cardiac open heart recovery experience and a minimum of 2 prior travel assignments.
Details
- 32-bed cardiovascular surgical step-down unit (CVPCU) within a large academic medical center (500+ bed facility)
- Mixed level of care unit: 12 IMC beds with continuous cardiac monitoring, remainder are telemetry (intermittent monitoring) and floor-level (non-monitored)
- Patient population includes post-op cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgery patients, including those 1+ days out from CABG, valve repairs, and valve replacements
- Clinicians also care for patients with Mechanical Circulatory Support devices (LVADs) and heart/lung transplant recipients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:3 on days and 1:4 on nights
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (12-hour shifts)
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
Requirements
- Active MD or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac open heart recovery experience required
- Strong Surgical IMC experience required
- ICU experience required for management of high-acuity IMC patients
- At least 2 prior travel assignments required
- Experience at a facility with 500+ beds required
- Critical Care Certification (e.g., CCRN) preferred
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- One professional reference required for consideration
Additional Information
- Fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment specializing in post-operative cardiac and vascular care
- Orientation is held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month
- Local candidates are accepted at the same bill rate as travelers
