Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a mixed-acuity MS/Tele position at a short-term acute care hospital, requiring solid neuro experience and active IN or Compact licensure.

Details

Mixed-acuity unit providing both medical-surgical and progressive (PCU) levels of care in a 194-bed short-term acute care hospital
Areas of care include oncology, stroke, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary
MS patients carry a 1:5-6 nurse-to-patient ratio; PCU patients carry a 1:3-4 ratio
Patient population includes medical-surgical patients, PCU-level patients, unstable strokes, and oncology cases
Procedures and drips include Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lasix, and Insulin infusions, as well as Post Heart Cath and Post Pacemaker care
BiPAP management is required
Charting is done in Cerner (experience required)
Day shift, 4x12-hour shifts, 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM
Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required
Local candidates are not accepted for this position

Requirements

Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand (pending licensure not accepted)
Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA and RQI formats accepted)
18 months to 2 years of RN experience required
Solid neurological nursing experience required
MS/Tele or PCU background required
Cerner EMR experience required
Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited university required
Candidates who are current or recent permanent/PRN employees of the health system must have been away for at least 12 months before applying

First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved
Scrub colors required: red top, black bottoms
Parking is free
Indiana-licensed RNs are not eligible for MS/Tele positions at this health system (this restriction does not apply to Periop, Allied, or Ambulatory RN travelers)
Candidate must be able to confirm experience with Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lasix, Insulin drips, Post Heart Cath, and Post Pacemaker procedures
