Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position at a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of high-acuity PICU experience.

Details

  • 24-bed PICU within a 247-licensed-bed Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and teaching hospital
  • Average patient census of 21–23 patients
  • Patient population includes respiratory, trauma (penetrating and non-accidental), DKA, seizures, neurosurgical, acute/chronic renal failure, orthopedic, surgical, transplant (kidney and liver), complex medical, and blood disorder cases
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by acuity: 2:1, 1:1, or 1:2
  • Specialized skills utilized include critical care vasoactive drip management, invasive line management (ART lines/CVP), ventilator and trach management, CRRT, chest tubes, epidurals, PCAs, EVDs, Camino ICP monitoring, Arctic Sun, Belmont Rapid Infuser, and feeding tube management
  • EMR: Epic (experience required)
  • IV pumps: Alaris and Medfusion syringe pumps; medication dispensing via Omnicell; monitoring via Philips
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM–7:15 AM (1845–0715), 36 hours per week
  • Every-other-weekend rotation required
  • Alternating major holidays required
  • Floating required as needed to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, and General Peds units
  • No on-call responsibilities for travelers

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of high-acuity Pediatric ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Proficiency with critical care skills including vasoactive drip titration, invasive line management, ventilator/trach care, CRRT, Arctic Sun, EVDs, Camino device, and Belmont Rapid Infuser
  • Comfort in a high-acuity, fast-paced PICU environment required
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, required for consideration
  • Candidates who have worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible

  • Orientation includes facility-wide NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Scheduling runs on a 6-week cycle; RTO requires manager approval
  • Navy scrubs required
