Description
American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a 13-week Oncology Med/Surg night shift assignment requiring prior travel experience, chemotherapy experience, and recent Epic proficiency.
Details
- Miller 5 Oncology unit in a large academic teaching hospital
- Med/Surg oncology patient population including cancer patients with symptomatic and supportive care needs
- Clinical skills include administration of blood products, IV antibiotics, anticoagulant infusions, and chemotherapy; central line care and maintenance; IV starts; tube feedings; and telemetry monitoring (no monitor techs on unit)
- Epic EMR experience from within the past 2 years is required
- 12-hour night shifts, Monday through Sunday
- Bi-weekly orientations held on Mondays
Requirements
- Active RN license — Vermont or compact state license accepted; NY license accepted with proof of pending licensure
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Prior experience in a large academic teaching facility required
- Chemotherapy experience or oncology specialty background strongly preferred
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years is required and non-negotiable
- Two professional references from a Nurse Manager and/or Supervisor required for consideration — at least one from within the past 6 months and one from within the past year of employment
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide oncology med/surg nursing care to cancer patients, including symptom management and administration of chemotherapy, blood products, and infusion therapies
- Telemetry monitoring is performed by nurses directly — no monitor technicians are available on the unit
- No block scheduling permitted for any reason
- Public transportation is not accessible in this area — a personal vehicle or rental vehicle with all-season or snow tires (November through April) is strongly recommended
- All work history must be complete, including bed count, EMR, and facility type; employment gaps over 30 days must be explained
