Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Pediatric OR position at a children's hospital, requiring 2+ years of acute OR experience and a WA State or compact RN license.
Details
- 12-hour day shifts, 0645–1915, 36 hours per week
- Pediatric Operating Room setting within a children's hospital
- Patient population spans neonates through age 18, including adult-sized pediatric patients, with diagnoses ranging from congenital anomalies and developmental delays to pediatric trauma (MVAs, GSWs, shaken baby)
- Surgical case types include neurosurgery (craniotomies, EVDs, shunts), spine (scoliosis repairs, spinal injuries), urology, GYN, ortho, oncology (tumor resections), ENT, general/GI, and optionally dental, ophthalmology (strabismus repairs), and robotics (DaVinci XI)
- EMR: Epic
- Floating may include assisting in PICU procedures, NICU cases at an adjacent connected campus facility, and assisting anesthesia with procedures such as intubations in MRI or IR
- Weekend shifts are unlikely but possible if weekend staff are unavailable; call is the more typical weekend obligation
- On-call required: approximately 2 weeknights (1900–0700) and 1 weekend (1900 Friday – 0700 Monday) every 6 weeks, with a 30-minute response time
Requirements
- Active WA State or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required; CNOR preferred
- Minimum 2 years of acute OR experience required; candidates with only 2 years must demonstrate high-level experience
- Pediatric OR experience required; candidates with combined adult and pediatric OR experience will also be considered
- Highly preferred skills: IV starts, scrub experience, robotics, high-level neuro, ophthalmology, and dental case experience
- Circulating experience across the listed case types required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- At least one supervisor-level reference (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or above) required for consideration; a second reference will be required prior to start
Additional Information
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Free parking is available on-site
- First-time travelers are generally not considered unless the candidate has 5+ years of extensive OR and pediatric experience
- Candidates with skills gaps in robotics, high-level neuro, ophthalmology, or dental cases may be submitted for manager review and approval
