Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity Emergency Department position at a Level III trauma center, requiring a minimum of 3 years of large-volume ED experience and an active WA or Compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a 34-bed Emergency Department at a 226-bed Level III non-profit community hospital seeing 200–250 patients per day — the busiest ED in the state
  • ED is organized into zones, including a 13-bed fast track area (green zone)
  • Patient population spans neonate to geriatric, including pediatric medical and trauma, stroke (TNK administration), cardiac (cath lab), behavioral health and substance use disorder, and multi-system trauma
  • Handles high-acuity cases requiring stabilization and transfer, including neurosurgery, multi-system trauma, and high-acuity pediatric patients
  • Patient ratios range from 1:3–5 based on acuity
  • Shift options include Days (7a–7p, 9a–9p), Mids (10a–10p through 2p–2a), Eves (3p–3a), and Nights (7p–7a) on a 12-hour schedule
  • 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend required; back-to-back weekends possible but rare — flexibility is expected
  • EMR: Epic (strongly preferred)
  • No floating required
  • No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

  • Active WA or Compact RN license required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a large-volume, high-acuity ED
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC
  • Proficiency with barcode scanning medication administration, medication drip management, and blood product administration
  • Triage experience required; must pass the hospital's Triage Test before being permitted to triage independently
  • Ability to set up chest tubes and arterial lines, assist with trauma and code cases, perform splinting, and manage BiPAP/ventilators
  • Strong understanding of the ESI (Emergency Severity Index) triage system
  • Pediatric emergency medicine experience highly preferred
  • Experience with Point of Care Labs is a plus
  • Epic EMR experience strongly preferred
  • At least one supervisor-level reference (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or above) required for consideration; a second reference will be needed prior to start
