Description

American Traveler is hiring a CT/Rad Tech for a newly opening freestanding ED in Rapid City, SD, requiring a minimum of 2 years of CT experience and the ability to work independently as the sole imaging tech on shift.

Details

• Work in a newly opening freestanding emergency department (FSED) with 9 ED rooms, 2 inpatient hold rooms, 1 CT room, and 1 X-ray room
• Patients include walk-in ED patients (facility is not accepting ambulances at this time), as well as scheduled outpatient and walk-in CT and X-ray cases
• Patient population spans pediatrics through geriatrics
• Common imaging includes extremities, spine, abdomen, and general CT and X-ray scans — no neuro, cardiac (except stroke patients who are quickly transferred), or special procedures
• Planned patient volume of approximately 1 patient every 30 minutes during daytime hours
• EMR: Epic (required); PACS: Sectra
• Equipment includes Siemens CT with Go Excite Software and Carestream for room and portable X-ray (preferred experience)
• 12-hour shifts with both day (7:00 AM–7:30 PM) and night (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) rotations
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call requirements
• Holiday coverage expected for 50% of holidays within the contract period
• No floating required

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of CT experience required; candidates with a gap in X-ray experience are subject to manager approval
• Current BLS and ARRT-CT certification required
• SD does not require a state license; however, a license is required if applicable
• Must be comfortable performing both CT and X-ray duties independently
• Experience with general, extremity, spine, and abdominal imaging across a peds-to-geriatric population
• 2 professional references dated within the past year required for consideration
• DOB and SSN required for consideration
• Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• First-time travelers will be considered, provided they are comfortable working independently
• This position is the sole CT/X-ray Tech on shift — independent practice is essential
• Support resources include a CT assistant from 7:00 AM–4:30 PM, an ED supervisor, and an imaging manager available on-site or by phone
• Facility orientation (NEO) is 36–40 hours upon arrival
• RTO requests must be approved by the manager
• Black scrubs required
